Foreigners who are not permitted to enter China

Foreigners of the following categories are not permitted to enter China:

(1) Those who were deported by the Chinese government and this punishment has not expired;

(2) Those who may engage in terrorism, cause violence or participate in subversive activities after their entry;

(3) Those who may engage in smuggling, drug-trafficking or prostitution after their entry;

(4) Those who are suffering from such diseases as leprosy, aids, sexually-transmitted diseases and active tuberculosis;

(5) Those who do not have the means to cover the expenses incurred during his stay in China;

(6) Those who may involve themselves in activities harmful to China’s national security and interests.

Border check posts have the power to withhold the following foreigners’ entry into China:

(1) Those who cannot present a valid passport, document or visa;

(2) Those whose passport or document have been forged, altered or belong to somebody else;

(3) Those who refuse to present their documents for examination;

(4) Those who are forbidden to enter China by instructions from the Ministry of Public Security or the Ministry of National Security.

In case arrangement cannot be made to return a foreigner who has been denied entry to where he came from by the same means of transport, the border check post staff may take necessary measures to restrict the range of his activities and help him leave China by the earliest possible means of transport.
