How to apply
English->Foreign nationals entering and exiting China->Foreigners’children in the care of Chinese citizens

Applicants must go through the following formalities:
(1) Filling in the Foreigners’ Visa and Document Application Form, with a recently-taken half-length full-face bare-headed color photo attached to it. Please enclose another print from the same negative (32X40mm);

(2) Submitting the original and one photocopy (A4 size) of the valid passport of the child to be placed in a Chinese citizen’s care;

(3) Submitting one photocopy of the child’s birth certificate;

(4) Submitting one photocopy of the child’s parents’ passports or supporting papers of their permanent resident status;

(5) Submitting one photocopy of the custodian’s ID and Household Register;

(6) Submitting the Notarial Paper of Entrusting a Child to Another Person’s Care and the Notarial Paper of Undertaking to Bring up Another Person’s Child.

An application for placing a child in a Chinese citizen’s care must include the following points: reasons for such arrangement, name of the custodian, duration of the custody, brief account of the child’s parents (nationality, occupation or status, when and for what reason they emigrated, when they obtained their permanent resident status, when they were naturalized).

The custodian’s affidavit must include these points: 1. brief account of the custodian (name, work unit, occupation, relationship with the child under custody etc); 2. brief account of the child under custody (name, date and place of birth); 3. Undertaking to guard and take care of the child at the request of the child’s parents); 4. Promising that, except when stranded by force majeur, the child under custody will leave China on time. The affidavit has to be notarized at a public notary’s office.

(7) Submitting the Temporary Lodging Form for Persons from Beyond the Border issued by the local police station.
